Privacy Policy.

Effective Date: 1 July 2026  ·  Last Updated: 24 August 2026

1. Who We Are

UseCalcForge (www.usecalcforge.com) is a free online calculator service. We provide calculation tools for publishing, science, finance, health, developer utilities, marketing, and lifestyle topics. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at workshop@usecalcforge.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect two categories of information:

a) Information you give us

When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not added to any marketing list.

b) Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our server logs collect standard technical information including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This information is used for security and performance monitoring. We also use Google AdSense, which sets cookies on your device. Details are provided in Section 4.

3. How Calculator Inputs Are Handled

Our calculators work in one of two ways, and the distinction matters for your privacy. Each tool states which method it uses on its own page.

In-browser tools

  • ✓ Around a third of our calculators run entirely in your browser using JavaScript.
  • ✓ For these, the values you enter never leave your device at all.

Server-processed tools

  • ✓ The remainder send the values you enter to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection, calculate the result, and return it.
  • ✓ Those values exist only for the duration of that request. They are not written to any database, and they are not recorded in our application logs.
  • ✓ Because the request is sent as POST data rather than in the page address, calculator values do not appear in standard web-server access logs either.
  • ✓ Nothing you enter is ever sold, shared with third parties, or used to build a profile of you.

We are setting this out plainly because an earlier version of this policy stated that no calculator input was ever transmitted to our servers. That was not accurate for the majority of our tools, and this section has been corrected.

What this means in practice: for everyday figures — a loan amount, a body weight, a page count — there is no meaningful difference between the two methods, since nothing is retained either way. But if you are using the developer tools, do not paste live API keys, passwords, connection strings or other secrets into a server-processed tool. Redact them first, or use a local editor. The contact form (Section 2a) also transmits your message to us, deliberately, so that we can reply.

4. Cookies and Advertising

UseCalcForge uses cookies for the following purposes:

Cookie Source Purpose Type
Google AdSense Displaying relevant advertisements Third-party
Session CSRF protection, form state First-party

Google AdSense & Personalised Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies to show you ads based on your interests, previous visits to this site, and activity on other websites.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set, using a consent management platform certified by Google. Nothing is stored on your device for advertising purposes until you choose. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the same consent controls, and withdrawing is as straightforward as consenting was. If you decline, you can still use every calculator on the site — you will simply see non-personalised ads.

You can also opt out of personalised advertising globally at adssettings.google.com. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

We do not run a separate analytics product such as Google Analytics, and we do not set any first-party tracking cookie of our own. The only first-party cookie is the session cookie described above, which exists to protect the contact form against cross-site request forgery and to keep the calculators working. If we add analytics later, this section will be updated before it goes live rather than afterwards.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to contact form submissions
  • To monitor site security and prevent abuse
  • To monitor aggregate traffic patterns from server logs, for security and capacity
  • To display advertising that funds the free operation of this site

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties except as described in this policy (Google AdSense) or as required by law.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA & UK Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR:

Right to Access

You may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you. Because calculator inputs are never stored, this is limited to contact form data and server log metadata.

Right to Rectification

You may request correction of inaccurate personal data we hold about you.

Right to Erasure

You may request deletion of your personal data. Contact us and we will erase any contact form data we hold from you.

Right to Restrict Processing

You may request that we limit the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

Right to Data Portability

You may request a copy of the personal data you provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format.

Right to Object

You may object to our processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as the legal basis.

Right to Data Portability

You may request a copy of any personal data you have given us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and ask us to transmit it to another provider. In practice this applies only to a newsletter subscription or a message you sent us, since calculator inputs are never stored.

Right to Withdraw Consent

Where we rely on your consent — principally for personalised advertising cookies — you may withdraw it at any time, and it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Withdrawing does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew.

Right to Complain to a Supervisory Authority

If you believe we have handled your personal data unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence. In the EEA this is your national Data Protection Authority; in the UK it is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). You are welcome to raise it with us first at workshop@usecalcforge.com, but you are not required to.

Rights Related to Automated Processing

We do not make automated decisions about you using your personal data. No profiling with legal or similarly significant effects takes place on this site.

To exercise any of these rights, email workshop@usecalcforge.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. You do not need to opt out of a sale because no sale occurs.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To exercise your CCPA rights, email workshop@usecalcforge.com with the subject line "CCPA Request."

8. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months to allow us to follow up on unresolved enquiries, then deleted. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes. Calculator inputs are never retained (see Section 3).

9. Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to third-party websites (such as Amazon KDP documentation). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and recommend reviewing their privacy policies before providing personal information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

By using UseCalcForge, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Questions? Email workshop@usecalcforge.com.
